Modify Behaviors in ADHD Sufferers

Whether you’re an adult managing your own ADD or you’re managing your child’s ADD, a firm set of rules and guidelines need to be put in place. The behavioral aspect addresses the need for a Behavior Management/Replacement Plan.

While those who suffer from ADD tend to object to a rigid schedule, it is a vital necessity to them. They flounder without it. Clear goals and replacement solutions need to be agreed upon ahead of time. These need to be established to meet the exact situations you encounter on a daily basis. Rules help us to understand that we make choices. To follow or break a rule at any given time is our choice. Each choice produces a particular outcome. Some choices we make produce negative results, while other choices produce positive ones, more in keeping with our goals.

When consequences must come quickly after breaking a rule, and “corporal punishment” is in order the WipperSnapper is an excellent tool to use.  It’s an extremely effective alternative to spanking. It’s a swift form of punishment, somewhat uncomfortable yet impossible to do any real harm. In fact, it’s actually the anticipation of it that creates redirection.
